We wanted to be as certain as possible that we had squashed every bug before release. As usual our amazing users really stepped up to help us test it thoroughly. Special thanks to Ray, Ken, Peter, Fred, and Eddie for the incredible job they did helping us sniff out and eradicate bugs. You can download the new version here.

Based on the results of our poll it now requires OS X 10.4 or higher. This allowed us to dramatically improve performance. We also improved the consistency of editing throughout the application.

We hope you enjoy this new version and look forward to your feedback.

- Team Robochan

Shhh, we're hunting bugs

But you are thinking "It's wabbit season". Golden age cartoon references aside, this morning we discovered a very unexpected bug in Listz under 10.5 release. Listz will consume 100% of the processor resources (only on 10.5 release). It did not show up under any of the pre-release developer versions we were working with so it may take us a couple of days to find it and squash it. However, we are on the job and working hard. We will post a fix as soon as possible. There should be no risk to your data or your system, Listz will just hog all the processor resources while it is open. Until we post a fix you can continue to use Listz, just quit any other applications until you are finished, then re-open them when you have quit out of Listz.

One of our incredible users (and we have flat-out have the coolest users around) discovered another bug which we have already corrected. If you change an item in an auto-generated tab, like Due Today, Due Tomorrow, or ALL, in a List that has another open window, the change is not properly updating in the other window. If you close the list and re-open it the update will display properly. This is a bug and we have a fix for it that we will release when we get the processor-hogging problem resolved.

I will keep you posted on our progress.

Until then, all the best from us!

StylzKit prototype posted!

Today, as promised, we released the prototype of the StylzKit. StylzKit is an application for the more graphically-inclined to create their own styles for Listz. I want to emphasize that it is a prototype; the wheels might fall off if you push it too hard. However, I have made quite a few styles with it (which will be appearing on the Goodies page soon) and it has been surprisingly stable.

It's also important to keep in mind that the StylzKit prototype is not intended to assemble new styles like Lego blocks. You have to create the graphics for each component. The upside to that is that you have total creative freedom, go nuts!

In the coming weeks we will be making space on our server, and goodies page, for users to share their styles. If you make something fabulous email us a link!

On a completely different note, in case you haven't checked back with us in a while, the new version 1.2 of Listz is available now. It has an impressive array of new features we think you will love. Check this out to see a brief description of some of the highlights.

And lastly, I have gotten more than a few hints that I have been slacking on the blog. In my defense, we have been working very hard on the 1.2 release, StylzKit, and new content for you. All my excuses aside, I will do better, so please keep coming back.

Happy listing!

New site is up

After a lot of hard work and very gracious editing by some of our users (I am Duke of Typos) the new site is live. CatKit is a tiny little application that allows you to make your own categories and category sets for Listz. You can also share your categories and sets, so shoot us an email if you make a set you think others would like. We would be happy to host it for you on our goodies page.

Look forward to more exciting news in the coming days. We believe it is linked to variations in the system clock's time, but have not been able to reproduce it consistently. If you have encountered this problem please contact us using Listz's bug reporting feature (it will email us) or by using the online bug database. The bug is listed as ID 1-2006-000020.

We apologize if you have encountered this bug. We are working diligently to find its cause.

Thank you for your help!

Mac OS X 10.3.9 Fix posted

Last night we posted a fix for a problem in Mac OS X 10.3.9. The bug caused there to be problems displaying the Preferences and Item Info panels. If you are running 10.3.9 be certain to download this new build (v.1.0.1 1472).

You can download it here.

If you are using 10.4 or higher there is no need to update.

Huge thanks to M. Atkinson for reporting this issue to us!

Remember that if you encounter any problems or have any feedback you would like to send us (good, bad, or humorous) you can use the internal feedback system inside Listz or the web-based reporting. The feedback system in Listz can be found under Listz > Bugs and Feedback... To send us feedback via the web please use the online database. We designed that page so you can track bugs and learn about potential workarounds. It was important to us to have this process as transparent as possible, so let us know how we can improve it further.

Listz Released!

After a lot of long, hard work Listz is finally released!!

Many, many thanks to all the great people who tested during the beta cycle.

There is still a lot to do on the website, including getting this blog up, so stay tuned.
